THE FIRE FATALITY EPIDEMIC |
|
There is an EPIDEMIC in this country and it is killing thousands of people every year. It's not a virus or a cold. It is FIRE. The FIRE FATALITY EPIDEMIC has been an evergrowing problem for many years. The State of Tennessee is 5th in the nation for civilian fire related deaths. The solution to this problem is YOU. It is our job as fire service professionals to provide you with all of the information to keep you safe. IT IS UP TO YOU TO MAKE IT WORK! Join together today with the Tennessee Public Fire and Life Safety Educators Association to help make this possible and to make Tennessee safer. 2008 - 54

FIRE SAFE CIGARETTE BILL PASSES Tennessee Fire Safe Cigarette Legislation PASSES 97-1!!! Senate passed at 28-0!!! |
|
A fire-safe cigarette has a reduced
propensity to burn when left
unattended. The most common firesafe
technology used by cigarette
manufacturers is to wrap cigarettes
with two or three thin bands of less porous
paper that act as “speed
bumps” to slow down a burning
cigarette. If a fire-safe cigarette is left
unattended, the burning tobacco will
reach one of these speed bumps and self-extinguish. |

Notification can be sent to email, pagers, cell phones (with text capability), and PDAs (with email capability). This new service will provide access to emergency information for your county, city or state. The AHAS-IN (individual notification) can be received in American Sign Language (ASL), English text, voice and can also be received by Braille capable devices for blind or deaf and blind citizens. In order for this system to provide this potentially life saving information, we need your help getting this information to people who are Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Late Deafened, Deaf and Blind and Blind who live in the United States. This service will attempt to notify the person if an emergency/hazard happens in their area through the email/pager/text phone/PDA address. This information will ONLY be used for Emergency/Hazard Alerts. Please fill in your email address, text pager address and/or other assistive capable devices and the county, state and ZIP code where you live/work. Then click the "Add" button. You will be sent an email letting you know that you have successfully added your email address. No names, addresses or other information is needed. |
